MIGRATIONS part.1 / “Single Pulse Of Subjectivity”

An Afghan migrant walks down the streets of Tehran. He pushes a cart, on which two monitors are installed. We see images of the landscapes that surround him, but these landscapes identical to reality are shifted in time and point of view. The works of Armin Zoghi are mainly declined in videos, performances and photos, and are nourished by numerous philosophical references (M. Heidegger, W. James) and cinematographic (Kiarostami, Pasolini).

“Individualism” and “Subjectivity” are recurrent themes in his work. How do the cultural foundations of a society influence the perception and interpretation of images? From a minimalist approach, he tries to isolate in his proposals, symbols, common to several societies, whose interpretation varies according to the cognitive experiences of each.
