VIDEOBAR #27 welcomes the artist Enrique Ramirez, who will present his video ‘The Wall’.
“It is a series of images of people in a waiting room, this room is in an unusual place, perhaps in our imagination, with the idea of leaving, traveling or simply it is in no place in the world…”
Enrique RAMIREZ

Enrique Ramirez, born in 1979 in Santiago de Chile, shares his life between France and his native country since his passage at Le Fresnoy in 2007. After studying cinema, he mixes his plastic work (video, photographs and installations) with a literary requirement that awakens a new interest in images. From his first works, he turns to a “cinema for a person”, re-interrogating the borders between cinema and video through engaged and poetic works, constantly appealing to the sensibility of everyone.

One could describe his work as a series of poetic forays into the humanization of contemporary dystrophies. Her video installations and photographs deal with the politics of exodus and exile, as well as the discontinuity of memory, but for the artist this always involves a laborious quest into the subjective imagination. The vast landscapes that dot his work are conceived as geo-poetic spaces for the imagination, territories open to vision and wandering. The atmosphere of the images is contemplative in nature: the landscape, the breeze, the water, the sand; everything seems to cooperate to form a subjective view.

Enrique Ramirez is welcomed in residence in 2012/2013 for 8 weeks at the Ambroise Brugière high school in Clermont-Ferrand to realize an artistic project entitled “Lest We Forget/Ambroise Brugière”. The aim is to pay tribute to the personality of this politician who marked the life of Clermont-Ferrand, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. The video produced will be inaugurated on April 18, 2013 at the high school in Montferrand. This project is carried by the Ambroise Brugière high school, Martine Brugière, daughter of Ambroise Brugière, in partnership with VIDEOFORMES, and with the support of the city of Clermont-Ferrand, the Conseil Général du Puy-de-Dôme, the Conseil Régional d’Auvergne, the DRAC d’Auvergne and the Rectorat de l’Académie.
Enrique Ramirez will also present his work during a projection-conference on Saturday, March 30 at 4:00 pm at the Hugo-Pratt media library in Cournon, as part of a partnership with VIDEOFORMES 2013.
