On March 5th, in partnership with ENSACF, VIDEOFORMES presents a performance by the artist Hortense Gauthier entitled “Poésie du drone”. The performance will be followed by a moment of exchange with the artist.
While the most given gift at Christmas in 2015 is the drone, the United States continues its drone attacks in Syria and Pakistan.” Between entertainment and surveillance, machine of vision / machine of war, drones resonate more and more in the sky, and become the agents of our projections (spectacular effects, panoramic view, military strategies, mapping tools …). this technology produce disorder in our perceptions and our representations. The drone is a vibratory and flying prosthesis which questions our report
to the look and to the geography. The vision is detached from the body, our eye becomes vertical, the gaze interferes in new trajectories. Through games of scale, take-off in this new grammar of the image, to thwart, in a poetic way, the logic of this machine, and to open up other possibilities of space and speech.
Hortense Gauthier studied history-geography and political science. Since 2003, she has been developing an intermedia poetic work by exploring the different materialities of writing (sound, visual, plastic, digital, corporeal), as well as digital creations (performances, installations, videos, concerts) under the name HP Process (with Philippe Boisnard). Within the framework of this duo, they develop together the concept of “digital action poetry”, through which they question the relations between body, space, writing and new media.
Hortense Gauthier also develops a practice of action art, in the public space, or in relation with singular geographical spaces.
It is a writing of the body which questions, in a contextual way, the logics of social, geographical, political and media inscriptions. The question of gender, and the motifs of space, metamorphosis, mutation, multiple and disappearance are the vectors of her performative approach,
Hortense Gauthier has made numerous interventions in France and abroad (Brazil, Japan, Canada, Tunisia, Poland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden …), as well as in video and digital art festivals (DIGITAL CHOC, Bains numériques, INTERSTICE(S), GamerZ, VISION’R, Instants Vidéos ….), poetry (E- Poetry, CIPM, Expoésie, Marathon des mots de Toulouse, Voix …).
Since 2009, she created and directs with Philippe Boisnard, DATABAZ, an intermedia art center around literature and digital arts in Angoulême (France). She considers this practice as an integral part of her creative process.
