VIDEOFORMES organizes a national video creation contest

The 1Minute Video Creation project is part of an approach to image education and video art that is referenced in school curricula.

As part of the VIDEOFORMES festival, the project proposes the broadcasting of videos made by children in their schools and extracurricular establishments (public or private, associations, workshops, leisure centers…. ).

The video must be one minute long and meet certain criteria (see rules below).

Please read these rules before completing the registration form (at the bottom of the page).

  • Invitation to schools, colleges, associations… nationally and internationally to create a video in class or in a workshop, limited to one minute’s production time.
  • All videos must be part of an artistic approach: aesthetic, plastic, poetic, conceptual or experimental. They should encourage young participants to question the creative potential and limits of yesterday’s, today’s and tomorrow’s technologies. They should be exploratory in nature. Narrative work is accepted as long as it bears witness to artistic research.
  • The production of videos by students must be guided by the choice of 1 to 9 of the following constraints (which will be specified in the credits):

    1. no sound
    2. no shapes
    3. no music
    4. no narration
    5. no color
    6. no figuration
    7. no characters
    8. no voice
    9. no text
    10. no… (choose one)
  • The videos will be shown at the VIDEOFORMES festival’s Panorama de la Création Jeunesse Hybride & Numérique, as well as on the VIDEOFORMES website.
  • The video support standards accepted are Quicktime (.dv or .mov) or AVI uncompressed, HD format: H264 or H265 high quality sent to the address: jeune.video@videoformes.com (wetransfer.com for example). No other format will be accepted. No Windows Media Player files or other compressed formats.
  • A maximum of 5 videos per establishment or workshop.
  • These works must be presented by a structure: school, video workshop, leisure center, youth association, etc. The MAXIMUM length of videos is 60 seconds, excluding credits. All credits must not exceed 20 seconds.
  • Generics should include title, name of school, workshop or structure, class level, year of production, choice of visual constraints (see above) and identity of participants (optional).
  • Each video must be sent to VIDEOFORMES by the deadline of February 3, 2025, together with its online registration form (https://forms.gle/tFp2mPWe5d1Jycsh6).
  • The organizers draw participants’ attention to the regulations governing the use of music and images whose rights are not free, and urge those presenting videos to comply with French law (many sites on the Internet offer royalty-free music and sound).
  • The videos may be used freely by VIDEOFORMES for the purpose of promoting the festival and the association’s activities. They may be broadcast on television or the Internet without any financial compensation for the producers and authors, who in effect cede their rights.
