artistic residency > Mû Pied at the Chapelle de l’Oratoire

This post is also available in: Français (French)

From September 22 to October 6, Mû Pied will be in residence at the Oratoire chapel. This will be an opportunity for them to develop ways of playing with images and to better understand the space and environment for their new project, Regarde Voir.

Project presentation:

Using a camera without a viewfinder or control screen (a phone enclosed in a box), two protagonists explore an environment consisting of a few objects and light sources. Through their movements and interactions with their surroundings, the performers attempt to convey how they perceive, organize, and stimulate their gaze. The projection—monitored live, recorded, or with a delay—exposes their attempt to control a vision, their desire to show. While all the images are “real time,” the sound is either recorded live or borrowed from pre-existing soundscapes that weave, color, and play out the transition between the filmic world and reality.

The artists:

Franck Beaubois and Patricia Kuypers, dancer, visual artist, and dance researcher, collaborate on projects involving dance pieces, performances, laboratories, and training. Committed to supporting improvisation as an artistic field in its own right, they promote its practice by organizing artist gatherings, inviting dancers and musicians to perform and teach at the Mû studio, located in the village of Valcivières in the Forez mountains. In addition, the duo composes real-time dance and video pieces for which they design a performance device that responds to an image that sets them in motion (Delay, Panoramique, Entre-bruits, etc.).
