MONDES, an installation exhibition at the invitation of Hyperwave, as part of Wave Week, in Taipei (Taiwan): Golnaz Behrouznia, Anne-Sophie Emard, Guillaumit …
Curation and masterclass: Gabriel Soucheyre / VIDEOFORMES
Photography has not put an end to painting, cinema has not replaced live performance, and video has not supplanted performance art. The history of artistic forms is shaped by these turbulent evolutions, stimulated each time by the arrival of new tools, without the old forms disappearing — they shift, rub shoulders with the new, and are thereby transformed. What is distinctive about the digital age is that, beyond its own output, it does not merely coexist with pre-existing forms: it alters them, recomposes them, and sometimes elevates them. In the world of the visual arts in particular — from drawing to photography, from sculpture to installation — hybridisation is rapid, unpredictable and innovative. It thus opens up the field of creation to new worlds, to be explored rather than feared.
DRAMATURGY OF BIOSPHERIC CYCLES
Golnaz Behrouznia with Rémi Boulnois
Création sonore Maxime Corbeil-Perron, 2021/2026
In the darkness, three luminous, hypnotic and mysterious forms are in a state of constant metamorphosis. Entities and natural forms emerge, passing through states of disturbance, disruption and destruction. They then transform into artificial constructs, structures and architectures, before returning to mineral, vegetal and animal forms.
Dramaturgy of Biospheric Cycles is a multifaceted installation composed of a wall-mounted cylindrical triptych, with a self-contained screen system, accompanied by a soundscape. It explores the eternal laws governing the cycles of the Earth’s biosphere. The images in the video installation are made up of various visual materials derived from two- and three-dimensional drawings and designs.

The notion of dramaturgy introduces the idea of a narrative: what the work tells us about the cycles of the Earth.
In ecological science, cyclical chemical processes involving water, carbon, nitrogen and other elements shape the natural environments in which the biosphere exists. The biosphere encompasses all of Earth’s ecosystems and all living organisms. These planetary cycles create a complex balance that enables the biosphere to survive.
Inspired by these cycles of disruption and destruction, and by the biosphere’s capacity for regulation, the video Dramaturgy of Biospheric Cycles is designed as a single video loop. This loop unfolds with a temporal shift across the three screens, without the viewer realizing that the same appearances are recurring. The work is thus constructed as a series of interwoven cycles, with no beginning or end, intersecting across different states and phases to evoke a shared logic within the Earth’s spheres: the same cycles, the same disturbance, the same process of renewal.

LES NAGEUSES (The Female swimmers)
Anne-Sophie Emard
2011/2015
Two women swim relentlessly, refusing to give up, confronting the inevitable. No progress is possible, yet hope remains: to see the first woman cross the edge of the frame through the sheer force of her crawl, and the second, battling against the current, manage to stand on the rock she cannot reach.
The composition of these two videos resembles that of a painting: a fixed frame, colours, textures. Anne-Sophie Emard often draws inspiration from painting. Here, she subverts the traditional codes of the female bather, usually depicted motionless and displayed for the viewer on the shore. The woman is no longer a body to be contemplated, but a body in motion within an element. In doing so, she brings the female figure back into the present.

EAU VIVE
Guillaumit
Mural with augmented reality, 2021
Eau vive is a giant mural created during an artistic residency in Châtel-Guyon, on the façade of the former Grands Thermes, and produced by VIDEOFORMES. Guillaumit brings his joyful and whimsical universe to the work, drawing inspiration from the mosaics and ceramics that decorate the building’s interior. Its guiding theme is flowing water, which circulates, soothes and nourishes life. There is an abundance of detail, inviting the eye to wander from one motif to another, whatever the viewer’s age.
The work extends beyond the wall: download the Carnaval augmenté app and film the mural with your phone. Through augmented reality, the mural becomes a game in which you have to nourish a plant.
Original artwork: Guillaumit.
Coding and augmented reality: Alexandre Coirier.
Music: Gangpol.
Produced by VIDEOFORMES, Antony Squizzato and the Route des Villes d’Eaux du Massif Central, as part of the “Voyages artistiques avec les Accros du Peignoir” project. With the support of ANCT Massif Central and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. In partnership with the City of Châtel-Guyon.
